I am very pleased to let the world of Amateur Radio know that I have been able to follow my late father's wish and take over his call sign G3UK which he obtained in 1938 at the age of 14. The original licence had to be held in his father's name as Dad was under age. G3UK was active on the air up until 2006 when unfortunately he had a stroke. The only real break that he took away from the radio was during war time when the station was closed down. ( There is an interesting entry in the logbook to that effect. )
I hope to establish a new QTH near to Cirencester, England and to bring G3UK back to the air.
Finally I should just like to thank all the many hundreds of Radio Amateurs that had QSOs with my father over the years bringing him great interest, pleasure and satisfaction
