In Knokke-Heist (Belgium), the liberation in 1944 by Canadian troops, is comme morated annually with various ceremonies, the high point being the march. Many thousands of walkers have participated in the Canadian Liberation march which follows the route that was taken by the soldiers between the Western Scheldt in the Netherlands and Knokke. Since the beginning, ONZ, “The Radio Shack Oostkust”, has organized annually with a special Radio Callsign an “On the air” event to commemorate and honor this.
For the 79th Commemoration the special Radio Callsign “OR79CLM” will be used. AN amateur radio will be on the air permanently during the weekend of 3-4-5 November 2023, this on various short wave radio frequency bands. The radio station will be using telegraphy, telephony and various digital modes.
