New York QSO Party 2024 - Our 16th Year!
On Saturday, October 19th (at 1400z), the 16th annual NY QSO Party will take place. After a record setting year in 2023, and sunspot counts on the rise, 2024 is shaping up to be our best year yet.
Since the NYQP restart in 2009, we have experienced consistent growth, not only in the number of entries, but also the total activity (QSO's
made) on a year-over-year basis. The 2024 event promises to be better yet, with a great set of awards for all entry categories, plus special rookie and youth awards as well.
Our mobiles and portable stations will take to the roads to activate all of the 62 NY counties, with pileups sure to follow. The "Planned Activations" page on NYQP.org is up and running; be sure to check there for updates on who will be operating from where. We are expecting activity from Grand Island to Greenport, from Delevan to Dover Plains, from Amagansett to Albion, from Mooers to Manhattan, and all points in between.
Will 2024 be the year that someone finally works a County Sweep of all 62? Some have been close, but no operator has yet to achieve a sweep.
With high activity, great propagation, and a record number of high power mobiles QRV, we hope that 2024 will be the year those plaques are awarded.
Plan to join us, starting at 1400z Saturday until 0200z Sunday, on all bands, including VHF. The full rules (updated for 2024), results and records from previous years, county data, planned activations and more can be found at www.nyqp.org See you all in two weeks!
