9U4M PRESS RELEASE #4
BURUNDI 2017 by MDXC Team
Great news especially for the lovers of digital modes: The international MDXC team working to build the new dxpedition from Burundi with the callsign 9U4M, will be on air also with the new FT8 digital mode. Called FT-8 (Franke-Taylor design, 8FSK modulation) will be another good way to catch the weak signals. As a matter of fact a weak signal mode that is not as sensitive to JT-65/9 but definitely something that will work when voice and CW will not.
We remind that the team will be on air from November 6th to November 17th just on the banks of the Tanganyika Lake, Bujumbura. to operate 24/24 hours with 5 stations with a particular focus to low bands, WARC and “old and new”digi modes73 Al 4L5A

9U4M Burundi.
Do not worry guys we are good as our cake!
Hallo everybody
So, despite any more difficulties we are on air. As the world of hams knows we arrived in Bujumbura with all the permissions and licences signed and approved but the local authorities of customs stop all the equipments (antennas and radios) tho check one by one and this formal step take time, much time..hi
Anyway we made our best, believe us, put up 3 home made antennas, switch on 3 radios and startend already Monday Evening to made many qsos.
The latest news are quite good and we are very confident that all the equipments will be out from the custom deposit tomorrow,Wednesday in the late morning
Keep on touch ad listen listen, all the 9U4M waiting for you!!
Ciao de Antonio and Gab

9U4M Burundi News. Thank you for your comments, but do not compare 3C and 9U.
We are not in West Africa and not at the seaside. Moreover, solar indexes are not in our favour. Last night for example, 3C1L was the only station I heard on 80m and none of its correspondents was QSA! That said, all Europeans are not housed in the same sign because some we gratify “loud” and “strong” and it is also seen in reception. We worked until midnight and finished this morning. With the exception of the 6m, all antennas are now operational. The QSOs this morning on 15m were made with the vertical 30m because the quad was not yet mounted. I can not hide the fact that we have regained our spirits, as this history of stuck goods began to become worrying. The 40m worked well last night (on a single vertical instead of 3). We will try the lower bands tonight. PS / Do not focus too much on logs “in real time”. Many QSOs are “forgotten” but are reloaded once a day from each PC.
