    K3DI - Richard Wilder - Mitchellville - USA

K3DI, Richard L. Wilder, from Mitchellville, USA has passed away.
He was first licensed in 1948, callsign W2ZCZ.
In 1973 he switched to the K3DI callsign.
    He operated in 1993 and 2001 as 7J1AOE, from 1994-2000 held the call C6AHL, also operated as K3DI/VP9 in 1994, DL/K3DI in 1995, ZF2OP in 1996, 6Y0A and K3DI/6Y5 in 1997, F/K3DI in 1997, SV/K3DI in 1997, VP2EEI in 1998, FS/K3DI in 1998, K3DI/VE6 in 1998 and M0BOA in England and P4, plus some /MM operations. Dick was a longtime member of the PVRC.
He had been battling Parkinson's Disease for as many as 8 years.
His XYL, N3FZB, Martha, asks "please no flowers." Instead, she suggests contributions to the ARRL.
For many years before moving into assisted living and starting the K3CCR club station in that facility, Dick had a small 3-tower multi-multi near Annapolis, Maryland, inviting many new operators to join him in that operation.
He was also generous with his time back in 1986, in helping build the current W3LPL super station in central Maryland.
He and another oldtimer, W3EKT, were there just about every Saturday, starting at 8 AM, to pass AB-105 tower parts up the rope and pulley to Frank as the towers went up.
They had become friends when Dick moved to a home just 400 feet away from the previous W3LPL station near Annapolis.
Dick quickly transformed from a casual HF CW rag chewer and experimenter into an enthusiastic contester and PVRC member, says W3LPL. An article in January, 2013 QST talks about the K3CCR retirement home station.
