    5B4AEA - Joseph Fucetola - Nicosia - Cyprus

5B4AEA/W2OHN, Joseph Fucetola, Jr., from Nicosia, Cyprus has passed on at the age of 95.
The funeral was 22 September 2018.
Born in 1923, he was licensed as a ham since his teenage years.
Through his interest in radio, he had a career in avionics and radar communications with Lockheed Martin.
In that role he traveled around the world.
After the death of his first wife, Ismini, in the 1980s he moved permanently to Cyprus, where he retired.
He was active in the ham club in Nicosia, "within the walled section of Nicosia."
He was always the first to arrive to and last to leave from club meetings, says a friend, 5B4AHZ, "always happy, always supportive, always active."
He was a great supporter of getting youth involved in ham radio, including supporting "JOTA."
One amusing incident, when young hams arrived to a meeting he said, laughing, "A mouse eat the mouse!" A (live) mouse had chewed the cable to the computer mouse in the club's hamshack. "Grandpa" Joe was in declining health and was hospitalized a few months ago.
