Kurt Schips, DL1DA from Stuggart, Germany, passed away 21 May 2022.
He was 95.
He was first licensed by Deutscher Amateur Sende und Empfangsdienst (DASD) as DE7213 and then obtaining his transmission and reception examination in 1942. During WWII Kurt was one of a few hundred who was able to transmit with his then call D3KNN. He was also taken prisoner by the Americans. After the war Kurt began studying electronics and began working for Robert Bosch GmbH. Conny was always QRV on the bands and was on the DXCC Honor Roll with 338/367 (current and total) countries confirmed in the ARRL DXCC Mixed standings. He also was a DXpeditioner and activated over 100 DXCC Entities. He was a member of the DARC for 80 years.
