    8J17CALL - Tokyo - Japan - Amateur Radio Club

    Radio Amateurs members of JS1YEY 7 CALL Amateur Radio Club will be active with special call 8J17CALL from Tokyo, Japan, starting 23 April 2020, celebrating 30 anniversary of Japan non standard format call signs.
    They will operate on HF Bands.
    Information received from Satoshi Yamaguchi, 7M4VQJ President of 7-CALL Amateur Radio Club.

    This is 7M4VQJ, Satoshi from 7-CALL Amateur Radio Club (JS1YEY), Tokyo based club station organized by Japanese 7-CALL amateurs.
    7-CALL is Japanese callsign starting with “7" and it is a symbol of the golden age of Japanese amateur radio history.

    Our club operates 7-CALL 30th Anniversary Special station "8J17CALL" from 23rd April, 2020 to cerebrate 30th Anniversary of Japanese 7-CALL issuance.
    The special station is also known as a brand new prefix "8J17" according to the WPX regulation.

      [News Release] 8J17CALL, 7-CALL 30th Anniversary Special station 2nd Shack opened
      7-CALL Amateur Radio Club has started operation for 2nd Shack of 8J17CALL, 7-CALL 30th Anniversary Special station on 11th July, 2020.
      (According to Japanese radio law, portable station license is limited up to 50W and over 50W operation shall obtain a separate station license with fixed station address respectively)

      The new shack has been approved by Kanto Bureau of Telecommunications at 7th July, 2020.

      7-CALL is Japanese callsign starting with “7" and it is a symbol of the golden age of Japanese amateur radio history.
      There are only 17,583 7-CALL stations (just 6.81% of overall issued 7-CALLs) still exist as of the end of 2019.

      Our club is going to promote 30th Anniversary of Japanese 7-CALL issuance with the special station until 22nd April, 2021.
      The special station is also known as a brand new WPX.

        Monthly result in this period is 2,527 QSOs including 184 DX QSOs.

          [News Release] 7-CALL Amateur Radio Club Experience station approved
          8J1YAB, 7-CALL Amateur Radio Club Experience station has been approved by Kanto Bureau of Telecommunications on 3rd August, 2020.

          Experience station is newly established system authorized by the Japanese Radio Law.
          Under this special permission, even unlicensed people are allowed to operate the experience station under the supervising of licensed amateur.
          This new operation aims to promote experience on wireless communication technology, especially for younger people.

          There are only a few approved experience station cases in all Japan and 8J1YAB is 2nd case in Greater Tokyo.

          7-CALL Amateur Radio Club (JS1YEY) is Tokyo based club station organized by Japanese 7-CALL amateurs.

          7-CALL is Japanese callsign starting with “7″ and it is a symbol of the golden age of Japanese amateur radio history.

                  [News Release] The Japan’s first QSO between two unlicensed guest operators
                  8J1YAB, 7-CALL Amateur Radio Club Experience station has started its operation on 11th October, 2020.

                  Experience station is newly established system authorized by the Japanese Radio Law.
                  Under this special permission, even unlicensed people are allowed to operate the experience station under the supervising of licensed amateur.
                  This new operation aims to promote experience on wireless communication technology.

                  7M4VQJ, the President of 7-CALL Amateur Radio Club called CQ and made a first QSO with 8J2YAB/1, our sister station hosted by Suzuki Laboratory, Management of Business Development (MOT) Course, National University Corporation Shizuoka University operated by JJ0RHL as a first Japanese QSO case between two experience stations.

                  7K1BIB, Compliance Manager performed as a licensed supervisor for experience QSOs.
                  The first QSO by unlicensed guest operator was made with 8J1JARL, JARL Special station hosted by the Kanto Region Society of Japan Amateur Radio League (JARL) operated by JL1USZ.

                  Then, we successfully achieved the historical QSO with 8J3YAA/3, Osaka based experience station as a first Japanese QSO case between two unlicensed guest operators across 374km (Tokyo/Osaka).
                  The licensed supervisor of 8J3YAA/3 in Osaka was JS3CEQ.
