The Kingdom of León as a State: Years 910 to 1230,
It was the year 910 when Alfonso III of Asturias died in the city of Zamora, leaving his kingdom divided among his sons: to the first-born, García, he bequeathed the Kingdom of León, to Ordoño Galicia and to Fruela Asturias. This division would not last long, since four years later García I would die, and his brother Ordoño, hereinafter Ordoño II of León, would be proclaimed king of León, who would establish the seat of his unified kingdom of León and Galicia in the city of León.
