    HF27PLI Special-Event Station
27th Anniversary of the Activation of the First Internet Link in Poland

HF27PLI will mark the 27th anniversary of the activation of the first Internet link in Poland, operating from 23 September to 1 October 2017.

The first analogue Internet link in Poland, with the throughput of 9600 b/s, was activated on 26 September 1990. On that day, the first connection was made between Warsaw, Poland, and Geneva, Switzerland, co-ordinated by Dr. Grzegorz Polok from the Institute of Nuclear Physic of the Polish Academy of Sciences, and that connection is considered to be a turning point in the Polish history, starting the Internet era in our country. The monthly fee for the link maintenance amounted to almost 13.5 million old Polish zlotys (before denomination). Soon, we observed the appearance of websites and online shops in Poland. Within a few years, several search engines became available on the Polish market, including the Google. New branches of industry developed, e.g. the internet marketing facilities or SEO. Today, about 20 million people use the Google in Poland.

Our special-event station will be operating on all bands, using various modes. Each QSO will be confirmed by a special QSL card via the Bureau. The QSL cards from our correspondents will be appreciated.

    See you on the band.
