Rechargeable Batteries

I have a Comet Mark II Antenna Analyzer which uses AA batteries. I would like to purchase and use rechargeables. There seems to be many brands coming out of China which have negative reviews so my questions are should I go with Lithium or Ni-cads and what brand is recommended. What charger would be appropriate?
