The sailing ships of STEPHEN the GREAT
1465 – 2020
The year 2020 marks 555 years since the first documentary attestation of the existence of the Moldavian war fleet with which Stephen the Great (1457 - 1504) besieged and conquered the Chilia Fortress on January 25, 1465, when the Hungarian garrison was defeated.
The ships with a single mast and three sails had a capacity of 60 tons, 16m long, the crew being made up of 7 sailors. A ship could carry 40-50 armed soldiers.
To mark this historic event PRO-CW-Club has instituted an anniversary certificate, which can be obtained by any amateur radio, regardless of the mode of transmission.
Special notation for certificates obtained for traffic only in CW.
