Some of you asked what we think about ZS8 dxcc, current status and zs8w potential activity
As only some knew it our license zs8dx was issued and landing permit has been granted
But even that reality was way different.
3 or 4 different part of the SANAP and DFFE let you go there... but there can be somone who can say no to your activity on the island.
We gave up on this project as THERE IS NO POSSIBILITY TO ERRECT ANY ANTENNA, EVEN 5m vertical... If you want to do everything according to regulations on ZS8 Marion Isl.
The risk was to high for just sailing trip ?
We think zs8w didn't inform SANAP about his real intentions which was amateur radio expedition. They hire 73years old man as radio antenna repair team....but there are 12 huts to visit during 10 to 12 days. Some of them. 35km walk one way with food and equipment ?.. And they didn't take 30 years old south africans to do the job? That's sounds very weird and maybe explain why his web page is down already to hide all that.
If he is lucky enough to go on air this will be the LAST ever activity from Marion for amateur radio as SANAP didn't know anything about the zs8w real plan.
We know that 2 south Africans who couldn't get job on Marion for 5 years in the row already raised alarm and inform Ministry DFFE and all other department about this situation.
It will end up same as MT Athos situation NO TO HAM RADIO in the future.

better apply there for a 1 season contract, so nobody can't do much when you land on Marion.
