N8PR reports the first serious FT8 contest is this weekend, with the WSJT-X 2.0-rc5 beta version now out, available for download.
K1JT, Joe Taylor, the developers, says it's stable, works well, and fixes known problems in RC4, the most recent beta version.
The general release is scheduled for two weeks from now.
The practice session is this weekend, December 1 from 02-03Z (Friday evening in North America), with the serious version December 1-2. Check out the info for the "FT8 Roundup" on this site: https://www.rttycontesting.com/ft8-roundup/.- It will be on 80, 40, 20, 15 and 10, with any station working any other, with the exchange signal report and state or province for US and Canadian stations.
Non US/Canada stations send signal report and serial number beginning with 001.
Additionally, the ARRL RTTY Roundup January 5-6 will permit FT8 as well as RTTY for the first time.
