Ex commercial Cable & Wireless CW/AM/phone Operator, ship to shore Coast Guard station 'VRY' back in the day (Guyana - then British Guiana). Been hamming from 1959-62 as VP3RW.
First ham transmitter was a 'shared' Heathkit Apache working with a 90' long wire and a home-made 2 el cubical bamboo quad.
Emigrated to Europe and fell silent until resuming the hobby in Jamaica with a 6Y call in 1980. Very active until 1992, with interests mainly on CW, RTTY, Packet, & SSTV (Robot style) - moved qth and went silent again for almost 20 years until late 2011 when interest was again revived.
Avid CW contester in the early years with the call 6Y6A.
Past President of JARA - Jamaica Amateur Radio Association 1982-85 and recently returned to Presidency in 2012- current

I think I lost all paper logs including contest logs with thousands & thousands of qso's from 1980-2011 during 2 hurricanes !! Sorry about that..... still searching years of old boxes.... in the hope of finding something.
Current station - basic with a 2mtr Wouxon handy talkie, ICOM-7300 & ICOM IC-781 (under repair) & SB201 Heathkit amp. a hurricane re-built KLM KT-34a, Inverted V, and a small laptop for logging. Enjoy CW'ing on my Vibroplex original Bug and Slow Scan SSTV, JT65 and FT8 etc. WINLINK is a recent Caribbean interest as our club (JARA) is involved with our Office of Disaster Preparedness & Emergency Management (ODPEM).
Other Interests F1 GP, Saloon car circuit racing, Plastics Industry related machinery. DIY. Electronics. Computers.
What I do: Technical Director - Flexible Packaging Manufacturing, printing, laminating and converting polyethylene and polypropylene bags and rolls for multiple industries.
