Beginning at the end of 2024, I will be operating occasionally as KH7AL/KH9 on Wake Island during my days off from work there. I welcome working many DX from this prime spot in the Pacific. This is also a POTA location (UM-0009, Wake Island National Wildlife Refuge), Grid Square RK39, ITU Zone 65, CQ Zone 31, IOTA OC-053, DXCC Wake Island.

KH7AL, Allen, recently began a new job working on Wake Island as an Electronics Technician. He has Monday's off from work. Wake is 12 hours ahead of UTC. Allen says, "I will most likely be on the air early mornings or late afternoons to avoid the peak heat of the day". He will be working a rotation of three months on the island then one month off the island for at least one year. His KH7AL/KH9 setup includes a Yaesu FT-891 running barefoot into dipoles for 40, 30, 20, 17, 15 and 10 meters. Listen for him on SSB and possibly some CW. He says he is "not sure [his] CW skills are up for running the kind of pile [he] met yesterday (yet...)".
