Hello everyone:
Radio is a beautiful medium but somewhat anonymous as we don't know who's on the other side of the mic, so I'll share a little bit about myself.
Been working in film, music and sound engineering for over 30 years and apart from these beautiful means of artistic expression, my passion is Astronomy, books and Photography, devotion I've had since I was young, as well as Amateur Radio, which I've only recently been able to do. At the beginning of the 2000s, I was able to acquire some second-hand equipment and receivers and I was fascinated by the "magic" of being able to listen to people very far from where I was; how someone could discover the way to do it in real time with others thousands of kilometers away.
Despite this, due to personal circumstances, I was not able to go deeper into the subject, but the most perfect situation came just two decades later.
After a personal loss in 2021, I was finally able to reconnect with my old desires. Rummaging through my warehouse, I rescued -among other things- my old equipment from long ago. Subsequent to studying in the official course of the Peruvian Radio Club, I was ready to give life to those "toys" that were waiting to see the light; I connected them to the wall outlet, pressed the power button and... Eurkea, they turned on just like 20 years ago!
Among them, I have an Icom -IC720a, Yaesu FT-901D, Icom IC-V100, Grintek 178b, Datron RT7000, Grintek HF250, Yaesu FT-80c, Icom IC-706mk2G, Icom IC-R7000, Icom IC-R71A, TEN-TEC RX340 and Icom IC-R8500 respectively. Homemade inverted V dipole, vertical dipole, portable vertical QRP and a discone antennas.
For now, I work on 40, 20, 15, 10 and 2 meters and am interested in portable transmissions or activations from remote/unusual places, typical of my work trips to far away places. I also find it interesting to explore SSTV because of how close it is to my main field.
So much to explore and lots to learn in this field that is a mix of electronics, science and adventure.
Hoping to work some QSOs with passionate people of this beautiful hobby in Peru and the world.
73 to all of you.
