Jacek SP5EAQ is planning his next trip to Pacific. In March he will be active (again) as 5W0AF. Jacek is a phone man so it will be SSB only operation.

In less than two weeks, I was scheduled to fly with Qatar Airways to Doha, then continue to Brisbane and finally to Apia. Since then, the geopolitical situation in the Middle East has changed significantly. The airspace of several countries, including Qatar, has been closed, and even if it reopens soon, there is no guarantee that the situation will remain stable.

Because of this, I had to consider postponing my DX‑pedition, possibly until September/October 2026. This has been a very difficult decision. My tickets are already purchased, the accommodation deposit has been paid, and all arrangements are in place. Some of these costs will, unfortunately, be lost.

At the moment, both Qatar Airways and Emirates—who effectively monopolize travel between Europe and Australia/New Zealand, the main hubs for the South Pacific—are affected, and the route is disrupted. I will now look for alternative routes that are usually more expensive and have severe luggage limits.

We will keep you updated as soon as the new dates are confirmed.
