    GB0HAM - Herm Island

GB0HAM is a Special Event Callsign for the South Dorset Radio Society activation of Herm Island (IOTA EU 114) from the 18th of September to the 21st of September 2018. The South Dorset team consists of nine licensed operators (Ray M0XDL, Rob G0RYL, Peter G4UIX, Mike G8VCN, Stuart M0SGV, Chris M0XFL, Jonathon G1TGM, Chris G4RSL, and Fred G0LVF,) which will utilise three co-located HF stations, operating on bands available on the day. When possible there will be one Low band SSB station operating on 40m or 80m, one high band SSB/CW station operating on 30m or 20m (or higher when band openings allow). The third station will be a Data-modes (PSK, JT65 or FT8) station operating on 30m and 17m when open. The Data-modes station may also use other bands when they are not in use by the SSB stations. CW operation is likely to be infrequent due to a lack of proficient CW operators. Rigs will include a Kenwood 590, iCom 7000, Yaesu ft 450, and Icom 7300, and antennas will include SOTA resonant dipoles a 10m vertical, a Magloop for 40m and above, and occasional deployment of a SOTA kite antenna. The team will be staying in (and operating from) two Log Cabins high up on the beautiful Island of Herm which we will reach via two ferry trips from Poole to Guernsey and Guernsey to Herm. There are no cars on Herm but there are two Pubs and a Hotel. Each station will be allocated a team of three with one operator, one logger, and one off duty enjoying the scenery and the refreshment options. The South Dorset team will be taking a relaxed approach to this activation so please bear with us in pile-up situations.

73 to all who work us!
