Just completed an amazing temporary transfer with the Australian Antarctic Division. Employed as the Communications Technical Officer aboard the Aurora Australis icebreaker, I travelled to Davis and Mawson stations in Antarctica. Great learning experience, as I was responsible for all the communications and IT equipment aboard the ship, including HF, VHF and satellite comms. I also used electronic equipment to locate and retrieve an acoustic whale mooring. A very challenging and rewarding experience overall.
