Samuel Mitchell Bennett, age 74 of Millville, passed away Friday morning, May 4, 2018 at the New Jersey Veteran's Memorial Home in Vineland after an extended illness.

Born and raised in Millville, he graduated from Millville High School, Class of 1963, and was a lifelong resident.

Stationed in Panama, Samuel served in the U.S. Army from 1965-1967 during the Vietnam War.

For 33 years, he worked as a Supervisor for South Jersey Gas Co. and retired in 2000.

Samuel was a member of the American Legion Nabb-Leslie, Post No. 82 of Millville. He was the former Treasurer for the International Management Council. He was an amateur radio operator with the call sign K2SMB.

Samuel is survived by his wife Katherine (Enckler); one daughter Kelly Riley and husband Francis "Butch" of Millville; and one son Scott Bennett of Millville. He was predeceased by his siblings, Charles Bennett, JoAnn Henderson, and Frederick Bennett.

A gathering for family and friends will take place Friday, May 11, 2018 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the American Legion, Buck Street, Millville.
