The Radio Amateur Union of North Aegean (SZ8LSV) is the Ham Radio Club
of Lesvos island in Greece, established in 1991. Lesvos island is the 3rd in
size , island of Greece and it is located at the North East Aegean Sea.
This Summer, we will operate with the special call (29 May to 23 June 2017) to participate in the celebration of the Global Geoparks, representing the Geopark of our Island.
As it is well known, Lesvos island hosts a wealth of geological heritage sites, including
the Famous Petrified Forest of Lesvos, areas of natural beauty, rich ecosystems
and a variety of cultural monuments.
All these elements contributed to the island's recognition as a UNESKO Global Geopark !
The members of the SZ8LSV Contest Team, will be the operators of the special call J48GEO.
( SV8QG Alex - SV8DCY Pantelis - SV8DCW Kostas - SV8DTD Periklis - SV8RMA Fotis )
They will use this call throughout the Bands, from 29 May to 23 June 2017,
and they will try to make as many QSO’s as they can.
They will operate on : 160-80-40-30-20-17-15-12-10-6 meters, SSB, CW and DIGITAL modes.
During the special communications weekend of Global Geoparks between 2/4rd June 2017, we will operate
with an extra special event Radio station, from Natural History Museum of the Lesvos Petrified Forest
and we will exchange gretings with Radio stations from around the word, and with other Global
Geoparks stations which will be on the air.
