On May 26, 2018 the Union of Radioamateurs Coruña will be transmitting with the special callsign AM1FAS, on the occasion of the celebration of the Day of the Armed Forces, from a military tent in which there will be a sample of some military communications equipment . We will be located in the Constitution Square of A Coruña, in front of the General Captaincy Palace thanks to the collaboration of the Operative Logistics Force of the Army.
The Palace of the General Captaincy of A Coruña was built by means of a wooden construction in the 16th century, although it was in 1748 when, on the same land as the initial one, the stone building was built by Royal Order of Fernando VI, which has arrived until our days with successive reforms that only affected the interior distribution. On the occasion of the event, guided tours have been organized for all the public to know this historic property.
The celebration of the Day of the Armed Forces dates back to 1978 when the annual commemoration of a national festival that honored the Armies and promoted knowledge and integration between them and society was established.
