PATARA- GELEMİŞ Radio-Telegraph Station
Patara (Gelemiş) , the first radio-telegraph station of the Ottoman Empire, was founded in 1904 and started to run on August 31st 1906.
Through this station, communication was established between the Ottoman land Trablusgarp (Tripoli - Capital of Libya today) with Derne (Derna City - Libya) radio station.
In addition, it was used for communication of passenger and transport vessels traveling in the Mediterranean Sea for reporting the natural events in the seas to the ports.
It was bombed and destroyed in 1911 by the Italian Navy, which declared war on the Ottoman Empire
