Exactly 100 years ago, on November 4, 1920, the Decree of the All-Russian Central Executive Committee and the Council of People's Commissars of the RSFSR “On the Formation of the Votsk Autonomous Region of the Votyak People” was signed. This document marked the beginning of the formation of the statehood of Udmurtia.
The creation of the Udmurt Autonomy was the most important event in the history of our region. An event that signified the acquisition, for the first time in a long history, of the national statehood of the Udmurt people, which contributed to the growth of national identity and breathed new impulses into the development of language and culture.
Today the Udmurt Republic is a territory of interethnic peace and harmony, a region with a developed economy, science and its own distinctive culture. The centenary of the formation of Udmurtia is a significant historical and cultural event for all residents.
