Konrad Zuse (1919-1995) was a German civil engineer, pioneering computer scientist, inventor and businessman.
He constructed his Z3-computer in 1941.
It was the first functional fully automatic, program-controlled and freely programmable computer
working in binary floating-point arithmetic. It was the first functional computer worldwide.
Zuse lived for some time in Hoyerswerda and graduated from high school here. We celebrate the 80. birthday of his
Z3, because his development has become an indispensable part of our daily life.
