GB0MPH is a special event call for the 23rd of April 2022 Marconi Day station manned by the South Dorset Radio Society and situated at Portland Port near Weymouth, Dorset, UK.
Portland Port (or Harbour as it was previously described) was a significant site used by Marconi when demonstrating his Wireless apparatus on Royal Navy ships prior to the First World War. A Marconi equipped Royal Navy battleship communicated with a sister ship situated in Portsmouth Harbour and various land stations, thus proving its usefulness for naval operations.
The Operating team will use an Icom IC - 7300 transceiver with a 10m vertical antenna and a low power FT8 rig using a magnetic loop.
