Lyubov Lebedeva was born in 1921 in the village of Novoe, Ust-Kubinsky district, Vologda region. She graduated from Ust-Kubinskaya 18th secondary school in 1940 with a commendable diploma. After graduating from school, she went to study in Moscow, at a school at the Main Northern Sea Route, to become a radio operator.
In the first days of the war, she appeared at the district military registration and enlistment office. Graduated from intelligence school.
In the autumn of 1941, the reconnaissance department of the headquarters of the Southwestern Front was sent to Akhtyrka, Sumy Region, occupied by the enemy. As part of a reconnaissance group of three people.
She had pseudonyms: "Lily", "Asya". Lyuba spoke German, got acquainted with the officers and managed to get a job in the field commander's office. The Soviet command was regularly informed about the movement of echelons by rail, the deployment of military units and other important intelligence.
Since April 1942, the group stopped communicating and for many years its members were listed as "missing". The mystery and details of the death of the group were revealed only in 1967. By the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of the May 7, 1970, L.V. Lebedeva was posthumously awarded the Order of the Patriotic War, 1st class. In Akhtyrka (Ukraine) and in the her small homeland (Ustye-Kubenskoye, Russia) one of the streets is named after the heroine.
