On the occasion of the Museum Ships weekend, the special callsign TM2FLO will be activated on Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 June from the naval museum of Lorient (South Brittany) where the submarine "La Flore" is exposed. Most operators are members of the radio-club F6KPQ and several are former military radio-operators of the French Navy, including submariners.
The Flore-S645 submarine was launched in December 1960. In service from 1964 to 1989, she weighs 800 tons, measures 57.85 m long by 6.7 m wide and was very active during the Cold War.
She has travelled the equivalent of fifteen times around the globe, including 41,000 hours diving time.
