Isayichkin Pyotr Petrovich - commander of radio squad of 399th Guards mortar battalion of 100th Guards mortar regiment of 3rd Guards army of South-Western front, Guards sergeant major.

He was born on July 10, 1918 in Kidusovo village, now Spassky district of Ryazan region in a peasant family. Russian. He was a member of the CPSU since 1942. He graduated from incomplete secondary school and courses for tractor drivers. Worked at a collective farm.
In the Red Army in 1938 - 1940 and since August 1941. Graduated from the school of junior radio specialists. Participant of the liberation campaign of the Red Army in the Western Ukraine in 1939 and the Soviet-Finnish war of 1939 - 1940.
In fights of the Great Patriotic War since October, 1942. At first Isayichkin was a telegrapher, then - a commander of radio operators department. He was "knocking" with a key. He tried to join the real battle, but was refused.

After the ring around Paulus's army in Stalingrad was closed, Hitler threw a strong grouping under Manstein to the rescue. To thwart this plan and ensure the further advance of the outer front of the encirclement to the west, the command of the South-Western Front decided to send a special army cavalry-mechanized group to raid the enemy's rear. Guards "Katyusha" mortars were attached to it. Senior sergeant Isaichkin was commander of the radio squad.

By the end of 1942 the front was moved away from Stalingrad for 200-250 km. But the cavalry-mechanized group of Guards Colonel Yeremenko moved even farther away. It intercepted communications of the enemy, crushed the reinforcements hurrying to the front, wreaked panic in the fascist rear.

Volleys of Guards mortars filled the enemy with horror. They turned a night shelter of any fascist unit within two hundred kilometers from the front line into a living hell. Precise katyusha strikes were provided by Isaiichkin with clear communication.

The daring raid of the Guards mortar men really stirred up the Germans. Volleys of "Katyusha" were thundering near Voroshilovgrad (Lugansk), and the cavalry which was part of the group visited Debaltsevo, a major railway junction in the Donbas. The Nazi command decided to seize samples of Soviet secret weapons. They managed to encircle the group in Lutuga district. The Soviet fighters took up a circular defense.

Isaichkin and his squad were sent to cover the Katyushas. When the Nazis appeared he opened fire with a Degtyarev machine gun. The whole squad went into action. The attack of the enemy stifled. But an artillery-mortar tornado fell upon the position of the signalers.

The fascists made new and new attacks. But the Soviet fighters stood their ground to the death. Isaichkin lost count of the empty machine gun disks. Already some of his fighters stopped responding with shots. But by the end of the day of February 23, 1943 they stood their ground, sanctifying the day of the Red Army with their courage.

With the dawn of the next day the enemy made another attempt to capture the positions of the division. He literally plowed through the trenches of the advance guard with mines. But again Isayichkin's machine gun hit them. Sometimes the Hitlerites managed to get closer to the distance of one throw. Then Isaichkin put grenades into action. All attempts of the enemy to seize the "Katyusha" were defeated by courage and steadfastness of Isaichkin's signalers.

And when the Nazis paused in their attack, the cavalrymen struck back suddenly. They went for a breakthrough. At the critical moment of the attack the squadron leader fell dead next to the fleeing Isaichkin. The cavalrymen lay down. And then Isaichkin stood up and with a shout "For the Motherland! Forward!" he was the first to rush on the enemy, leading the cavalry squadron. At the location of the fascists he acted as a cudgel with his hand machine gun, clearing the way to his own. But when he put the buttstock down on the head of another Hitlerite he was wounded by a bullet in the shoulder. His arm was cut off. The breakthrough by that time was already secured. "Katyusha" rushed across the front line. Guard senior sergeant Isaichkin went to hospital.

According to the decree of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR from April 21, 1943 Guard senior sergeant Petr Petrovich Isaichkin was awarded Title of Hero of the Soviet Union and received Order of Lenin and "Gold Star" medal for exemplary fulfillment of command operational tasks at the front fighting with German invaders and for bravery and heroism.

After hospitalization Isaichkin returned to his home regiment. He participated in battles for the liberation of Donbas. On September, 5, 1943, in the battle for Gorlovka city Isayichkin had been secondly seriously wounded.

In 1944 he took part in fights on Sandomirsky bridgehead on Vistula river. Then he liberated Poland, forced a crossing of Oder near the town Frosta. In May, 1945 Isaichkin took part in the liberation of Dresden. He finished the war on the streets of Prague.

After the war P.P. Isaichkin had been working on collective farm in his homeland. In 1951-1953 he served in the Soviet Army. Graduated from radio engineering courses. Then worked as a reserve junior lieutenant P.P.Isaichkin as a chief technician of radio station in Sovetskiy village in the Crimea region of Ukrainian SSR.

He died April 11, 1993. Was buried on the cemetery of Sovetskiy village.

He was awarded the Order of Lenin, 2 Orders of the Great Patriotic War of the 1st degree, and medals.
