    Information from their qrz page:
S.V. Rachmaninov (01.04.1873-28.03.1943) — a hereditary Russian nobleman, a great composer, a brilliant pianist and conductor, became a symbol of music all over the world. At the beginning of the XVIII century, the musician's ancestors settled in the Kozlovsky district of the Tambov province, now it is the city of Michurinsk. In the village of Ivanovka of the Uvarovsky district there is a Museum-reserve of S.V. Rachmaninov. It was here that the composer created his outstanding and world-famous works.
Russian composer, conductor, pianist, representative of the directions of symbolism and neo-romanticism in music. He combined the principles of the St. Petersburg and Moscow schools of composition in his work. His work is closely connected with Russian culture in general and folk song in particular.

The future composer was fond of music from an early age, already at the age of 5 he played the piano under the direction of A. Ornatskaya. In 1882, the nine-year-old Rachmaninov entered the St. Petersburg Conservatory. Since 1885, he studied first at the junior (in the class of N. Zverev), and then at the senior department of the Moscow Conservatory with A. Ziloti, S. Taneev, A. Arensky. A brief biography of Rachmaninov would be incomplete without mentioning that during his studies, the musician created a number of landmark works, including the 1st Piano Concerto (1891). In 1893, Sergei Vasilyevich graduated from the Moscow Conservatory in piano and composition classes with a gold medal.

After graduating from the Conservatory, Rachmaninov was engaged in teaching. In 1897 he conducted at the Moscow Russian Private Opera, where he met Fyodor Chaliapin. Since studying at the Conservatory, Sergey Vasilyevich gained fame as a talented musician, but his popularity was interrupted after the unsuccessful premiere of the 1st Symphony. The sharp criticism of Caesar Cui, N. Rimsky-Korsakov caused deep depression, Rachmaninov, whose biography had not known creative crises before. For almost three years, the composer has created practically nothing. In 1901, Rachmaninoff completed his 2nd piano Concerto. Since 1904 he worked as a conductor at the Bolshoi Theater. Since 1906, Sergey Vasilyevich has been traveling around the world, visiting Italy, Germany, America, Canada. In 1909 he created the 3rd Piano Concerto.

After a short stay in Russia, at the end of 1917 Rachmaninov went on tour to Europe again – first to Sweden, and then to Denmark, from where he did not return to his homeland. In 1918, in Copenhagen, the composer played his 2nd piano concerto. At the end of 1918, Sergei Vasilyevich left for the USA. Despite his stormy concert activity, at this time he practically did not create anything new. It was only in 1926-1927 that the 4th Piano Concerto and a number of small works appeared. In 1941, Rachmaninoff finished his greatest work – "Symphonic Dances". Rachmaninov Sergey Vasilyevich died on March 28, 1943 in Beverly Hills in the USA. The great composer was buried at the Kensiko Cemetery.
