100 years ago, on October 29, 1923, public radio began broadcasting in Berlin and just a few weeks later on December 1, 1923, the Saar Radio Club (SRC) e.V. was founded in what was then the “Saar area”. The SRC saw itself as an association for electrical and radio technology and was therefore one of the very early radio and radio associations and was an important contact point for radio listeners and radio hobbyists of the time to provide technical support and to spread the new medium of radio.
With the special call sign DQ1ØØSRC and radio operations on the amateur radio bands, the Saar district commemorates these two technical and historical events.
