60th Anniversary of the IOTA Awards Program
Special Event Callsign - VI60IOTA
To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the IOTA program, we have arranged through the VK/ZL/Oceania IOTA Ltd Checkpoint station to obtain and promote the special event callsign VI60IOTA.
We are looking for both activators and chasers to get behind this initative. IOTA operators in Australia are invited to head out and activate as many VK IOTAs as possible during 2024! IOTA Chasers will be able to work towards chaser certificates at various levels by seeking to work VI60IOTA from as many VK IOTA entities as possible across 2024.
Whenever VI60IOTA is heard on the air it will be from one of the VK IOTA entities!
Operator Invitation
Operators planning IOTA activations this year in VK and its territories are invited to contact us to discuss using the VI60IOTA callsign as part of that activity. We will also be ensuring that activity occurs from the mainland and island states, OC-001 (Australia) and OC-006 (Tasmania) plus as many VK IOTAs as we can muster throughout 2024!

Early plans are in place for:
•Andy VK5MAV/4 to use the call during part of his OC-171 Magnetic Island activation
•The VK5FIL OC-261 Flinders Island team will also operate VI60IOTA during part of their expedition
More activations will be listed as they join the program.
Award Chaser Instructions
If you work VI60IOTA, always record the IOTA the operator gives you. The callsign will be operated portable from around VK throughout 2024!
The plan is to offer a digital certificate at the end of the year detailing your VK IOTA QSO achievments. The Bronze tier will be that you have worked VI60IOTA in OC-001, OC-006 and at least one other IOTA during the year. That will be the minimum tier. We will instigate higher tiers of certificate as the activation program develops throughout 2024.
Details of how to apply for certificates will be released soon!
Logs
We will keep the logs up to date on Clublog. (Details TBA as we determine the best way to manage multiple IOTAs for the call across the year). We will also likely have periodic uploads to LoTW depending on the activation- and at the very least will do one full upload at the end of the year.
QSL Cards
Plans are also afoot to establish a special QSL card to mark the occasion. Detals are still TBA but will be updated shortly.
