In the annals of Russian military glory Azov siege is a special heroic page.
The siege of the Don Cossacks in 1641 is the most significant event of Russian-Turkish relations in the first half of the XVII century. This battle was closely followed not only in Moscow and Constantinople, but also in the capitals of European countries.
The heroic defense of the Azov fortress by the Don Cossacks became the greatest feat of the Don Cossacks, which had few equals in the history of mankind.
To commemorate it, the International Festival of Military History Clubs dedicated to the siege of the Azov siege of the Don Cossacks in 1641 is held in Azov every summer on the first Saturday of August, which can be attended by everyone.
The festival of military history clubs is held with the direct support of the Don government.
“The Cossacks showed resilience, courage, martial art, which made it possible to defend Azov. The festival takes place on the original site of this historical event near the ramparts of the Azov Fortress.
Currently, the festival, which is held annually in Azov on the first Saturday of August, is one of the brightest tourist events of the Don. Every year it is visited by 10 to 15 thousand fans of history and event tourism. About 200 re-enactors from 33 historical clubs from different cities of Russia take part in the reconstruction of historical events. The old fortress comes to life again, on its ramparts there is a grandiose, vivid performance dedicated to the Don history.
As part of the days of activity is planned to work radio station with a special call sign R1641AZ, which will operate from August 01, 2024 to August 7, 2024.
