A team of amateur radio operators from Havana, Granma, and Santiago de Cuba will be activating the special station T48JM on the occasion of the “José Martí Funeral Route” that they will be walking from Dos Ríos to Santiago de Cuba. The route, which is about 103 kilometers long, will take place between May 19 and 23.
According to a report by Mario Eugenio Court Calderín, president of the Santiago de Cuba branch of the Cuban Amateur Radio Federation and station manager, transmissions will be made on HF bands from 10 to 160 meters, on UHF on the 6-meter band, and on VHF on 2 meters. It will be operating in SSB, CW, FT8, and FT4 modes, as specified in the authorization document issued by the Ministry of Communications for this amateur radio event in honor of the 130th anniversary of the death in combat of our National Hero.
