    EM50AR - Romny

EM50AR. Nick Derenko, US8AR will be active using special call sign EM50AR from Romny, Ukraine, celebrating 50th Anniversary of his Ham Radio activity.
He will operate on HF Bands.
    Information from his QRZ page:
was born on May 25, 1957. My interest in radio began in the 5th grade when I found V. Borisov's book "My First Radio Receiver". That was the spark. I assembled a crystal receiver from scrap materials. It was thrilling to hear distant stations on a device I built with my own hands.

In the eighth grade, I read I.V. Kazansky's book "How to Become a Shortwave Listener". That same year, I received the SWL callsign UA6-101-866 and fell in love with Short Waves forever.

After school, I majored in "Design and Production of Radio Equipment" at the Taganrog Radio Engineering Institute (TRTI). During my winter break in January 1976, I made my very first QSO (using CW) at the station UK6ACO. During my studies, I was an operator at UK6LDZ.

In 1981, after moving to Romny (Sumy region), I received the call sign UB5AEO, later UB4AR, and following the callsign reform in Ukraine, it became US8AR. January 2026 marks 50 years of my journey on the airwaves.

73 and Peace! de Nick US8AR
