Gilwell Park is recognized by many people involved in Scouts as the movement's spiritual home and is also home to Scouting's UK administrative headquarters. 2019 is the centenary of the site being donated to Lord Baden Powell and there are numerous events taking place to mark this.

Gilwell Park also hosts an amateur radio station GB2GP that has been getting Scouts on the air for over 50 years and we have a special call sign to mark our site's centenary; GB100GP. Around 12,000 Scouts and leaders will get the opportunity to use amateur radio at our events this year so we'd love to get QSOs with readers who can help enthuse the next generation of radio amateurs! GB100GP will be active at the following Scout events:

• Fundays – open to the Beaver and Cub age ranges on 8-9 June.
• Gilwell 24 – open to the Explorer Scout and Ranger Guide (14–18) age range on 12-14 July
• Reunion – open to all adult members in Scouting on 6-8 September.
• Scarefest – Open to Scouts, Explorers, Guides & Rangers. Held on 25-27 October
