June 2025 — A group of young amateur radio operators are heading to the British Virgin Islands this October as the VP2VRX DXpedition. The team will be operating from DXCC Entity #138 from October 23-28, 2025, giving operators a chance to work this Caribbean location during the prime contest time. The British Virgin Islands remains a highly sought-after entity for many DXers, especially from North America and Europe, thanks to its location which provides great propagation paths across multiple continents.
This operation features a team of operators, all in their late teens and early twenties, who bring energy to DXpedition activities. The group has been planning this operation for many months, coordinating equipment, antennas, and logistics for a memorable and fun operation for both the team and the stations they work.
The timing works out well with the CQ Worldwide SSB Contest happening that weekend, which will bring lots of participation from stations worldwide. The plan is to start things off with a few days operating as NP2R from the US Virgin Islands (October 20-22); allowing the team to test equipment before moving over to the British Virgin Islands for the main VP2VRX operation during the contest (October 23-28). They'll be running multiple stations simultaneously during the contest. Outside the contest, the operators will each be active as VP2V/HOMECALL on various modes/bands.
The Team
We are also proud to announce that DX Engineering is the primary sponsor of the VP2VRX DXpedition. DX Engineering's generous support is making this youth operation possible by covering equipment. Their commitment to supporting the next generation of amateur radio operators and DXpedition activities is greatly appreciated by the entire team.
If you'd like to provide additional support for expedition expenses, we have a PayPal set up:
