The romance of wild Africa! Boa Vista Island – a vacation far from civilization
The picturesque island of Boa Vista is located in the eastern part of the Cape Verde archipelago. The exotic nature of this place has been preserved in its original form. Kilometer-long beaches, hot deserts, majestic palm trees – the breath of Africa can be felt in every breeze. Its distance from the continent has saved this paradise from the destructive influence of civilization. Even in the 21st century, you can enjoy peace and pure harmony here.

Travel to Boa Vista! Discover the land of eternal summer
The homeland of Cesaria Evora welcomes every guest with open arms. The island's small population is friendly to visitors, and the level of service is steadily improving. Your acquaintance with the work of ancient volcanoes begins at the modern Rabil Airport. The airport only received international status in November 2007.
Dozens of aircraft from all over the world arrive here around the clock. The airport is only 5 km from the capital, Boavista. Travelers are taken to their destination in comfortable buses or taxis. Most hotels organize transfers. Transport links are very well developed. Boats, motor ships, and ferries regularly depart from the local harbor. Public transportation is inexpensive.
Picturesque landscapes open up along the roads. The name of the island translates from Portuguese as “good view.” And this is quite justified. The island is distinguished by its abundant vegetation and has a rounded shape. Snow-white beaches stretch for 55 km, and crystal-clear Atlantic waves caress the shore with lush foam. It is a real paradise for water sports. Among the most popular activities are:
- diving;
- sea fishing;
- sailing;
- swimming;
- submarine diving.
Due to its proximity to the sea, the heat in Boa Vista is not so intense. The climate is mild and humid, with an average daily temperature of 30 degrees Celsius. The high concentration of salt ions in the air has a therapeutic effect on the body, as there are salt deposits here.

Time for adventure! All the island's entertainment
When choosing Boa Vista, tourists seek to immerse themselves in silent tranquility and enjoy solitude. Far from civilization, travelers are offered several types of recreation.
Sightseeing
The excursion bureau's program includes a wide range of group and individual tours. There are several interesting places to visit:
- the ruins of ancient ceramic kilns on Chavi Beach;
- the caves of Rocha Estância, which served as a refuge for fugitive slaves;
- the desert oasis of Viana;
- the Morro Negro lighthouse;
- the natural whale cemetery.
Tourists are also offered sightseeing tours of the island in powerful off-road vehicles. The cost of renting a vehicle is low, and you can see all the main attractions in one day. Professional guides develop special routes and tell many amazing stories from the past.

Beach holidays
Unlike other resorts in Africa, the threat of shark attacks in Boa Vista is minimal. The abundance of fish in local waters prevents marine predators from approaching the coastal zone. In addition, local authorities organize monitoring and security of public beaches.
Eco-tourism
The island's unspoiled nature attracts lovers of this type of tourism. Travelers can witness a unique phenomenon – the birth of sea turtles. On secluded beaches, these majestic giants lay their eggs, burying them in the warm sand. The underwater world is represented by bright reef fish, schools of yellow tuna, barracudas, and crustaceans. The absence of formidable predators has made the island a real paradise for birds. Flamingos, herons, parrots, falcons, frigatebirds, and noisy seagulls live here. Lizards and butterflies are also widely represented.
Gastronomic adventures and dancing
Getting to know the cuisine of this sunny land will give you an unforgettable experience. There are a huge number of restaurants of various price categories on the island. Seafood forms the basis of the dishes. True gourmets will enjoy delicacies made from crayfish, lobsters, octopus, nut sauces, and fruit cocktails.
Traditionally, the menu includes national delicacies:
- kachupa – a mixture of vegetables, meat, and fish;
- jagasisada – stewed pork with beans and corn flour;
- bochada – lamb stomach and blood.
Those with a sweet tooth will be offered a wide selection of exotic desserts. The café serves cassava cookies, sweet potatoes, banana muffins, and papaya puddings. Restaurants often host musical evenings.
Entertainment is also organized by hotel complexes and clubs. Tourists have a great time at local venues. They learn national dances to fiery rhythms and enjoy shows. Attending events is safe. Law enforcement is at the highest level.
Finally, we would like to remind you that a visa is required to visit the island. You can apply for one at consulates or directly at the airport. The average cost is $35.
