Ther best areas in New Zealand i know for fly fihnisg are Rotorua and Turangi (supposedly the fly fihnisg capital of the world). Both are in the North Island of New zealand, and are about 2 hours from each other. Theres plenty of accomodation in either town. You'd do best to fly into Auckland, then drive down to Rotorua, spend some time there, then carry on down to Turangi. The fihnisg season in NZ is from Oct April. You'll need a NZ fihnisg license, available from any fihnisg goods store, and the people at the stores are full of knowlege about where to fish, and what fly to use.
