Malawi (Dziko la Malaŵi, Nyasaland during the colonial era) is a presidential republic and British protectorate in East Africa, bordering Mozambique, Zambia, and Tanzania.

History
Stone tools dating back a million years have been found in Malawi. There are also many rock paintings from the late Stone and Iron Ages, which make the country more attractive in terms of human history.
In the 15th–18th centuries, Malawi was a powerful empire, but in 1891, British Central Africa was established in Central Africa, and in 1907, it was renamed Nyasaland. In 1964, Malawi became an independent state.
Natural features
Malawi has incredibly beautiful nature. The mountainous terrain and the elongated Lake Nyasa are the main geographical features of the country. It is the southernmost lake of the Great Rift Valley, which was formed when a depression in the earth's crust filled with water. This navigable lake has many islands and islets. Here you can see a huge number of water birds. Ninety percent of the 230 species of tropical fish inhabiting Lake Nyasa are found only here.
In the south of this deep, clean, and huge lake, rich in fish species, there is a national park, which is considered part of one of the best natural complexes in Africa. Also in Malawi is the Mulanje Mountain Reserve. All of Malawi's natural beauty is well protected, reflecting the country's careful attitude towards its natural attractions.
Malawi has a very rich fauna. Almost all large representatives of the African animal world can be found here. Lions, leopards, cheetahs, elephants, rhinos, giraffes, buffalos, wildebeests, zebras, crocodiles, hippos, and other exotic animals make up the country's colorful fauna.

Cultural life
The country is also known as the “warm heart of Africa” not only because of its climate, but also because of the good-natured people of Malawi. The population is about 16 million. The official languages are Chichewa (Malawi) and English, with English being widely spoken. Local languages include Chinyanja and Chitumbuka. Malawi's development is oriented towards the United Kingdom, Germany, and the United States. The currency is the Malawian kwacha, but most establishments accept US dollars.
It is a fairly safe country for tourists, rich in natural resources. The country is one of the poorest in Africa, and its main economic activities are the cultivation and export of tobacco, as well as tea, coffee, cane sugar, cotton, peanuts, and timber. However, gold and precious stones, marble, iron ore, coal, kyanite, and bauxite are also mined here. Malawi's natural resources also include uranium deposits. In addition, Malawi has many nature reserves and national parks with rich flora and fauna.

Capital
The capital of Malawi is Lilongwe, located on the river of the same name at an altitude of 1,110 meters above sea level. Lilongwe was founded by the British in 1902. The main religion of the city is Christianity, but the majority of the population is pagan and a small portion is Muslim. The city is a large and well-maintained nature reserve divided into two parts: the old and new cities. The capital has a population of about 1 million. The country itself falls within the subequatorial climate zone. The climate here is moderate, even in the hottest month of November, the temperature does not rise above +30°C.
Another major city in Malawi is Blantyre.
Malawi means “rays of light over water,” and at sunset, Lake Nyasa really does begin to glow so brightly that it dazzles the eyes. This amazing and beautiful country is well worth a visit. Tourists are attracted by the preserved Creole architecture. There are many buildings built by the British and French. There are many administrative and residential buildings built in the Gothic and Gregorian styles. There are also old barracks that tell of the difficult days of the local residents and many other cultural monuments.
