The fabulous resort of Anguilla
The island of Anguilla offers the ideal vacation conditions for those who dream of a perfect atmosphere and high-class service. Many famous people come here to relax, as the island has a reputation as a peaceful and tranquil place where no one will bother them.
The quality and cost of service in Anguilla is comparable to that of the French Riviera and Sardinia.
Geographical features
The island of Anguilla, part of the British Overseas Territory of the same name, belongs to the Lesser Antilles and is located in the eastern Caribbean Sea.
Its area is 91 km². With a width of no more than 5 km, the island stretches for 26 km in length. It is precisely because of this elongated shape that it got its name: in Spanish, “anguileea” means “eel.”
The administrative center is the small town of Wallis, with a population of about a thousand people. It is the only large settlement on the island.
Anguilla is an island of coral origin, and its flora consists mainly of shrubs. Along the coast, there are many tiny, uninhabited reefs and islets.

Climate
Anguilla has a climate typical of this region. From July to October, there is an increase in rainfall and a decrease in air temperature due to frequent storms and hurricanes.
The best time to visit is in winter, when the water temperature is around 22°C and the air temperature does not rise above 27°C.
Things to do
The resort business on the island is developing very actively, but preference is given to the development of conditions for a peaceful vacation. Fashionable Mid Bay, picturesque Sandy Ground, beautiful Shoal Bay East — whatever you choose, your impressions will be nothing but positive.
You can time your trip to this resort to coincide with one of the many local festivals. The most colorful are the Art Exhibition in January and the Flower Show in February. March is the time for the Moonsplash reggae festival, and in August you can visit the Anguilla Summer Festival. Jazz lovers can come here in November for the Tranquility Festival.
The island is quite popular among yachtsmen, who organize large-scale regattas here during the Summer Festival, on New Year's Eve, and on May 30 (a national holiday).
Those who enjoy scuba diving can explore the coral reefs. Interestingly, several old ships were sunk near the island to create the appropriate “interior.”
If you wish, you can take a trip to the nearby islands by motorboat or catamaran.

What to see in Anguilla
The Fontaine Cave is of great archaeological interest. In 1979, numerous petroglyphs dating back to the turn of the era were found there. The walls of the cave are covered with images of Yokau, the supreme god of the Indians, suggesting that this area was once a religious center and place of pilgrimage. For several years now, the country's leadership has been planning to make Fontaine a national park, but for now, the cave is mostly closed to visitors.
Island Harbor is a small fishing village with a beautiful beach, calm waters, and Big Springs Cave, which also has ancient petroglyphs. You can come to this village to relax and go fishing.

Local cuisine
Among gourmets, Anguilla is considered the culinary gem of the entire Caribbean. It is surprising how a country that grows almost nothing can have such a large number of restaurants with top-class chefs! And it doesn't matter whether it's a luxurious restaurant, a small beachside café, or a street grill bar — in any of these establishments, visitors can expect excellent service and delicious food.
Koal Keel and Malliouhana, located in the Meads Bay area, are restaurants known for their extensive wine lists of 35,000 bottles! It's no surprise that Anguilla can compete with Spain, Italy, and France when it comes to wine.
