The Five Star DXers Association (FSDXA) is proud to announce its fifth major DXpedition, this time to Christmas Island in the heart of the Pacific Ocean.

Firstly, we can confirm that the callsign T32C has been issued, in line with our previous callsigns (9M0C, D68C, 3B9C, 3B7C), the “C” recalling our origins in the UK’s CDXC (The Chiltern DX Club). The call took a little time to arrange, as single letter suffixes are not normally issued by the Kiribati Government.

W3PV will be active from Morocco until 1 May 2011 as CN2PV.

Marion Island was first discovered in 1663 by the Dutch ship Maerseveen. The discovery was accidental, and they made no landing on the island. After about five years Captain Cook also saw the islands, but he couldn’t make a landing due to bad weather. The first recorded landing on the island was in 1803 by a group of sealers, but they found signs of earlier occupation.
