at the moment I'm preparing my equipment - StepIR antenna needed some maintenance, corrosion on brushes and axis removed - brand new FT-DX10 instead of FT-991 - ICOM 7300 as backup (from HB9RNS TU Peter) - new Windows 11 Surface tablet - 2 PSU Powerwerx 30 - new 20m Ecoflex 10 - new tripod for antenna, last felt off and broke - new SPE 1.3k-FA 2nd generation - and many many cables :-) equipment tested last time in garden and run smooth FT8 first two QSO to New Zealand and Fiji hope hear many of you on 8Q7 for those who are interested getting in air in Maledives, contact Rasheed Parker 8Q7PR he is very kind supporting foreign HAMS getting the license.

dear fellows OQRS for 8Q7RM enabled I'm back in good old and cold Switzerland. Just on monday I we got some snow. I enjoyed time on Island very much. beside of relaxing I did about 3'500 QSOs, mostly FT8, vy few CW and SSB. QRV on 10m,12,15,17,20,30 and 40m Equipment: -TRX: FT-991, backup FT-891 - PA: SPE1.3k-FA -Antenna: CrankIR -Lenovo Win10, Surface Win10 (backup) questions, comments, etc. @bibinuk@hotmail.com credits to 8Q7PR, he organized everything to get licensed in Maledives, Big Thanks to Parker and the MARS (Maledives Amateur Radio Society). if you plan to visit the Maldives and go on air. get in contact with Parker 8Q7PR. Also please ask Parker what he needs for equipment, its hard to get even some small stuff for them.

Remo here 8Q7RM QRV since 2.11.2020 . Whenever you want to do something too fast something happens. On the second day tripod fallen down mast broken. With the little help of good old duct tape mast repaired upnrunning again. I am pleased with performance and possibilities of the CrankIR. FT-991 does its job. What I miss most is the waterfall display and the possibility to watch several frequencies at the same time like on my FlexRadio at home. Conditions are good despite the cycle. It goes around the world depending on time of day and band. Some openings on 10m and 12m. on 6m my favorite band nada :-) The biggest challenge on the island is manmade noise caused by all the electrical devices. Every LED, power supply you can turn off reduces the noise level. The AC -12dB, LED in the pool -15dB outdoor lighting -8dB etc. SSB and cw operation is hardly possible, what remains is digital and thanks to FT8 there are good QSOs. I have trouble with CW because I hardly recognize the own callsign :-) and because many CW ops don't want to adjust their speed. With DXPedition in Malawi 7Q7RU it finally worked out. I am fascinated by the speed and discipline with which the Russian colleagues handle their CW QSOs. Congratulations! I will be QRV until 28.11.2020. Mostly from 10m to 40m. For 80 I can't extend the radial far enough. best 73 Remo es 8Q7RM
